Skip Whitney founded Whitney Cressman Limited in 1974, a real estate advisory service focusing on commercial leasing and domestic and international commercial investment sales. Utilizing cross-cultural personal and professional relationships, Skip has a successful history advising clients throughout the United States and the Pacific Rim on commercial and investment properties in greater China and Southeast Asia.

In 2006, Whitney Cressman merged with Kidder Mathews, where Skip is currently an Executive Vice President with the firm and leads the company in the areas of innovation of science and technology applications in real estate. Kidder Mathews is now one of the largest independent commercial real estate firms on the West Coast, performing $6 billion in transactions over the last 3 years, and managing a portfolio of over 22 million square feet of space.

A native of the Bay Area, Skip played a significant role in the negotiations for the development of San Francisco’s Piers 30-32 into an international cruise terminal and mixed-use project. Known as the Bryant Street Piers Project, this $400 million mixed-use waterfront development features a state-of-the-art cruise terminal facility, 1-million square-feet of retail and office space. In 2005, the 136-unit condominium tower the Watermark was completed.

Skip is known as a pioneer in helping to establish the life science and biotech community in San Francisco and has been acknowledged as a key player in the development of San Francisco Mission Bay Science and Technology Park, a 12-million square-foot mixed-use commercial, residential, life science, clean tech, IT campus and home to UCSF research center. The company represents Pfizer, Nektar Therapeutics, Amgen, Bristol Meyers, and Novartis, as well as numerous startup and mid-size biotech companies. He acted on behalf of San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom during real estate negotiations on for the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM). He is a guest lecturer at the USC Lusk Center for International Real Estate.
